FB eventwww.facebook.com/events/687286…“Cut n Re-Mix” represents the theme of the exhibition that starts up from the symptoms encountered in the on-going cultural creation system and structural signs. This can be seen especially in the creative language practices phenomena, as well as in the practices of arranging objects, images, sounds and other various social and cultural marks. Even in practice, the creation idea or concept cannot be separated from this “cut and re-mix” phenomenon. This cultural production cannot be simplified solely as being the ‘cut’ and ‘mix’ action results, but it is also a process that defines and integrates people as active human beings in the context of re-mixing various signs practices that can eventually lead to new arrangements and combinations.Culture does not incorporate practices that are static or stable, but it is rather a continuous dynamic process that is always experiencing new kinds of transformations. Therefore, the modern culture, in the archipelago, with all the influences from the rising media and changes in technology represents a kind of transformation of the various traditions as well. From this point comes the question – what can be ‘cut and mixed’ from the range of phenomena that has transformed the culture? This is the challenge that we put forward to the participants in order to be explored in accordance with the background, the field and the technical trends that are currently carried out. With the slogan “Do-dolan” of the FKY art exhibition, the “Cut n Remix” theme wishes as well that the participants will ‘dolan’ (Indonesian Language: take a walk) to a number of references, from multiple libraries, as a resource to a wide variety of real experiences. Participants can show any topic that is relevant, important and interesting to put forth. There are no restrictions in this exhibition theme. ‘Cut and Remix’ is seen more as a disclosure or expression strategy that allows the participants to cut; slicing the phenomenon considered to be attractive, and present it with new compositions and arrangements. The purpose of this exhibition is to show a wide range of new perspectives on looking at culture - as being a significant practice. The 2014 FKY art exhibition stands in the middle of the post-election transition. ‘Cut and Remix’ can be defined as an attitude and philosophical gesture among young artists (paperu) that can arrange and construct different forms of composition, using ironic language and parody.
